
Scientific Program Lead, Biomedical Translational Imaging Centre (BIOTIC)
Biography
Steven Beyea is the Scientific Program Lead for the Biomedical Translational Imaging Centre (BIOTIC), which is a research centre of both the IWK and QEII Health Centres. He is also a Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, and Health Sciences at Dalhousie University. His research focuses on the development of novel medical imaging technologies and their clinical/commercial translation. This work has attracted >$6M in research grants/awards as principal investigator since 2014. In particular he leads a number of large scale projects, in collaboration with industry partners such as GE Healthcare, which utilize Artificial Intelligence in the development of potentially disruptive technologies for improved health outcomes.
